History, Origin, Culture and Traditions of Ozubulu Town in Anambra state

 
Ozubulu is a significant town in Anambra State, Nigeria, serving as the administrative center for the Ekwusigo Local Government Area. The town features an official Post Office. It is bordered by neighboring towns such as Nnewi, Ukpor, Ihembosi, Okija, Ogbaru, Atani, and Oraifite. The indigenous religion practiced is Omenana. Following colonialism, many residents converted to Christianity, but a strong respect for Omenana remains. Ozubulu is divided into four major communities: Amakwa, Egbema, Eziora, and Nza.

Ozubulu gained widespread attention after the tragic Ozubulu massacre in 2017. This event occurred at St. Philips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, Anambra State, on a Sunday morning during a church service. The incident became a national news sensation, reaching many Nigerians and bringing awareness to the town’s existence.
