BVN is an acronym of Bank Verification Number. The Bank Verification Number is a biometric identification system implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria to control illegal banking transactions in Nigeria. It is a modern security measure in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria Act 1958 to reduce fraud.
The BVN gives each Bank customer a unique identity across the Nigerian Banking industry that can be used for easy identification and verification at Point of Banking operations.

- Voters’ Registration Card or
- National ID Card or
- One recent passport photograph
In order to register for BVN in Nigeria, visit any bank if you currently have no bank account, or your bank branch if you already have bank account.

To check your BVN on MTN Network is as easy as ABC. Slot in the MTN SIM card currently linked to your BVN account. Open your phone dialer; then dial *565*0#.
Wait until your number is displayed on the screen of your device.
Checking BVN on Glo Network is not different from MTN procedure. Just make make sure you slot in the Glo SIM card that you linked to your BVN account. Dial *565*0# on your phone and a message containing your BVN will be displayed on your your device's screen.
Union Bank salary grade
9mobile Network does not have its own way of checking BVN. Just use the 9mobile SIM card that you linked to your BVN account. Dial *565*0# the wait for the response to come up. If the SIM card is linked, you should get response containing your BVN.
In order to check your BVN using Airtel Network, dial *565*0# on your phone and a message containing your BVN will be displayed on your your device's screen.

During your BVN registration, a slip will be given to you or you might be asked to document it on your jotting note for future purpose. But as we all known, no man is perfect when it comes to documents misplacement.
Therefore, if you accidentally misplaced your documented BVN, do. it panic. All you have to do is dial *565*0# but only on the SIM card linked to the BVN account.

Alternatively, if your registered SIM card is loss or damaged, just walk into the bank you did the registration and ask them to print your BVN slip for you. However, in a case where the registered SIM card is lossed, kindly apply for change of phone number in your Bank.
