##Transition to a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) Awarding Institution – 1976
In 1976, the institution began its transformation from a traditional teacher training college to a more advanced academic establishment capable of awarding the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE). Professor Olanrewaju Ademola Olaniyan is the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university. He is a renowned economist with a specialization in education economics, poverty analysis, and welfare economics. He has over 27 years of academic and research experience and previously served as the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the University of Ibadan.
