ANALYSIS OF QUEUING SYSTEM AT FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE ASABA

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION

The project studied an M/M/C parallel queue system with two servers, a random arrival of patients, and an infinite source of arrival. Federal Medical Centre Asaba was used as the case study. The aspiration level method was used to reduce the waiting time of patient and also determine the number of doctors needed to achieve this, while considering the conflict between increasing the number of doctors and reducing the waiting time of patient. The results of the analysis show that in order to keep the waiting time of the patient below 20 minutes, three doctors will be required against the two that currently serve the system. Also the idle time of the server should be reduced by preventing other staff from entering the consulting rooms while patient are being attended to
