CHARACTERIZATION OF THE PHYSICAL BODY WEIGHT AND BODY LINEAR MEASUREMENTS OF GUINEA FOWL
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
The body weight and body linear measurements were generally enhanced as a result of inadequate feeding observed in the farm hence adequate and proper nutrient requirement of guinea fowl should be considered and its optimum performance is expected. Results showed that the body weight and body linear measurements traits were superior compared to other local strains of guinea fowls. Correlation analysis showed a significant (p<0.01) difference between body weight and body linear measurement. Therefore, it can be concluded that helmeted guinea fowls are meant for egg production but with better nutrition body weight could be developed into meat, breeders and integrated into the main stream rural guinea fowl production programme.
