EFFECT OF DIFFERENT SPACING ON THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF GROUNDNUT (ARACHIS HYPOGEA)

ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION

An experiment was conducted on the effect of different spacing on the growth and yield of groundnut Arachis Hypoea for 3 months. The land area used was 7mx9m i.e 63m2 using randomized complete block design (RCBD). 9 ridges with three (3) plot each making a total of 27 plot were planted using the three treatment 20cm,30cm, 40cm respectively. The result shows that there was a significant difference in the length of stem giving the LSD value of LSD.P<0.39 also in the branches there was a significant difference with the LSD value LSD.P<4.11. But with the weight of harvested seed and numbers of leaves there was no significant difference. This goes to show that the different spacing 20cm, 30cm, 40cm can be used to propagate groundnut Arachis Hypogea.
