MICROBIAL ASSESSMENT OF BACTERIA AND FUNGI ASSOCIATED WITH PAP PRODUCTION
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
The study was on the microbial assessment of bacteria and fungi in pap production. The pap samples were collected aseptically from fifteen different vendors of pap in Ozoro. These samples were taken to the laboratory immediately and were analyzed using standard microbiological and biochemical methods. Staphylococcus species, Bacillus species, Streptococcus species, Proteus mirabilis, Shigella, Enterococcus species were the bacteria isolated while Candida species and Aspergillus species were the fungi isolated. The high microbial count is attributable to poor hygienic practice during the processing and post processing handling of the pap.
