PHYSICO-CHEMICAL AND MICROBIAL EXAMINATION OF RIVER ETHIOPE WATER COLLECTED AT DIFFERENT POINTS ALONG ITS COURSE
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
Water quality is important to man because it is directly associated with human health. The study was aimed at establishing the physico-chemical and microbial examination of river ethiope water. This research present a review on water resources in river ethiope Delta state, Nigeria’s with emphasis on physic-chemical and microbial assessment. It evaluates factors responsible for water contamination and their resulting health challenges within the study area. The samples were collected and analyzed for microbial and physic-chemical equality using standard procedures. The findings show that Micrococus species, Vibrio cholerea, Salmonella and Escherichia coli are present in the river ethiope water studied the studies also show that the river ethiope water has suffered anthropoyenic pollution and also the level of Cadmium, zinc, Copper, Nickel, Magnesium found in various samples is high and can cause kidney, liver problems and other diseases. Therefore proper purification and treatment of water from river ethiope and indeed all rivers within delta state should be ensured before its usage or consumption by those communities that depend on these water sources.
