HEALTH IMPLICATIONS OF DIRTY ABATTOIR

Abattoir known as slaughterhouse is a place where animals are butchered and processed into meat for food. However, under poor hygiene condition raw meat can be efficient medium for the spread of infection agents. Health implication of dirty abattoir can result in lack of their poor management and planning could badly affect the health and environment of the inhabitants the neighbourhood. Also wrong discharge of waste water which contain blood and animals faces into stream can cause increased rate of toxin accumulation and further, more utilizing water from a similar source to wash butchered meat can leads to contain of meat products consumption of these over water by man can also be detrimental to human. Poor environmental sanitation is another problem in which indiscriminate, dumping of refuse provides opportunities for flies breeding and food for scavengers. It was recommended that government must compel to stop operators of slaughter houses (abattoir) from construction at unauthorized places.
