This seminar focuses on the merits and demerits of information technologies in the society. Information technology has become one of the most used and abused computing phrases of recent times and often considered parallel to the term “computer literacy”. Although these terms are interrelated, they are quite distinct. Information technology is an integral part of people lives, businesses, and society. Advances in microprocessors, memories, storage, software, and communication technologies make it possible to build computers and computing devices that are increasingly affordable, as well as to enable the development of increasingly powerful systems at reasonable costs.
