DETERMINATION OF UNDER GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTED FROM WATER LOGGED AREA
ABSTRACT/DESCRIPTION
Heavy metals are among the serious pollutant in our natural environment due to their toxicity persistent and bio-accumulation potential the stud assessed the level of concentration in underground water sample collected from water logged area in ozoro and it environ. Three water samples were analyzed using standard method. Heavy metal such as lead zinc and copper were determined using atomic absorption spx ectrophotometer the result of the concentration shows lead to be 1.03- 108mg/l zinc 0.04-101mg/l while copper is 0.02-012mg/l the concentration of zinc and copper in all three samples were below the maximum allowable limits set by different regulatory bodies while the concentration of lead was quite above these might be due to high exploitation of petroleum and petroleum related products in this areas. This is an indication of pollution hazards which in turn have implication on the health of the people.
